HC Deb 19 February 1942 vol 377 c1918W
Sir L. Lyle

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the dissatisfaction felt both by hotel and boarding-house keepers and by civil service billetees, he proposes to consider some improved revision of the amounts now sanctioned?

Captain Crookshank

Proposals to increase the allowance payable to the billetors of civil servants have recently been given careful consideration, but I do not agree that any revision is called for. The £1 1s 0d. paid to billetors covers the provision of accommodation and two meals a day, and this sum is in scale with the rates payable to the billetors of members of the Armed Forces who are required to provide accommodation and all meals.
