HC Deb 17 February 1942 vol 377 c1664W
Colonel Carver

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he will allay the unrest among vegetable growers, of whom a number are also wholesalers, by giving an undertaking that the 1942 crop of onions will be distributed through the usual channels?

Major Lloyd George

In view of the importance which my Noble Friend attaches to the equitable distribution of whatever supplies of onions are available for domestic consumption, he is unable to give the undertaking asked for by my hon. Friend. The arrangements to be made for marketing next season's onion crop are being actively considered and a statement on the subject will be made as soon as practicable.
