HC Deb 17 February 1942 vol 377 c1671W
Miss Cazalet

asked the Secretary of State for War what new arrangements have been made in order to allow members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service to serve near their homes?

Captain Margesson

Subject to the needs of the Service, which must, of course, be paramount, members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service will as far as is practicable be posted for service in localities adjacent to their homes. Owing to the nature of their work it will, however, be impossible for the present to apply this policy to personnel in mixed anti-aircraft units. In any case the process must necessarily be a very gradual one, but compassionate cases will be given priority.
