§ Captain McEwenasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the death of the United States Minister in Bagdad, and of the great ser vices rendered by Mr. Knabenshue to the British community in Bagdad during the disturbances last May, he will arrange for suitable messages of sympathy to be conveyed to the United States Government and to Mrs. Knabenshue?
§ Mr. LawYes, Sir. I am glad to have this opportunity of paying tribute to the1596W memory of the late United States Minister at Bagdad. His courageous action last May in giving shelter to a large section of the British community will long be remembered in this country and wide spread regret will be felt at his untimely decease. A message of deep regret has already been communicated on behalf of His Majesty's Government to the United States Government, who have also been asked to convey an expression of His Majesty's Government's heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Knabenshue.
