§ Lieut-Commander Tufnellasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food, what is the basis of the high prices of young pullets which vary from 10s. to 21s.; and whether he is aware that these are prohibitive to the small house holder with a few hens?
Mr. HudsonI have been asked to reply. I consider the prices for pullets mentioned in my reply to my hon. and gallant Friend on 22nd January to be reasonable maximum prices. As regards the second part of the Question, I see no reason why any domestic poultry keeper should expect to buy pullets below the cost of production.
