HC Deb 03 February 1942 vol 377 cc1056-7W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the failure on considerable areas of the food production campaign in Jamaica last year, and the fact that in consequence peasants are requesting moratoriums against their planting loans, an inquiry, as requested by the Jamaican Press, will be held into the whole situation; and whether the report of the Board for 1940 has now been issued?

Mr. George Hall

The report of the Food Production Board of Jamaica for the year ended 31st March, 1941, has now been received, and a copy will be placed in the Library of the House. My Noble Friend has not received any report from the Governor regarding developments since that date, but he will make inquiries in the matter, and I shall communicate the result to my hon. Friend in due course.
