HC Deb 03 February 1942 vol 377 cc1074-5W
Mr. Pearson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply whether he is aware that at Lloyd's Proving House, Cardiff, sample links of commercial quality chain cables show frequent failure of the iron to stand the proof test; and, as this necessitates a second sample being cut off the cable with a consequent waste of labour and material, will he cause inquiries to be made as to the failure of the cable iron to withstand the required breaking strain?

Mr. Alexander

I have been asked to reply. I am making inquiries into this matter and will communicate with my hon. Friend on the subject in due course.
