HC Deb 17 December 1942 vol 385 c2110W
Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will make a statement as to the prospects of an early settlement of the dispute at the North British Locomotive Company works; and, in view of the fact that the men did return to work in order to facilitate a settlement nearly two months ago, will he intervene further to settle the difficulty still outstanding and obtain concessions for the workers which may in fact end the dispute?

Mr. Bevin

This dispute was in course of being dealt with under the agreed procedure of the industry when a further stoppage of work occurred. The trade union officials concerned and my officers are continuing their efforts to secure a resumption of work which will permit negotiations to continue.
