HC Deb 17 December 1942 vol 385 cc2105-6W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Supply on what grounds the Miscellaneous Chemicals Control has refused supplies of lactic acid for the manufacture of lactic sugar for medicinal purposes, although it is not in short supply and is available for other purposes?

Mr. Peat

Application for supplies of lactic acid for the manufacture of lactic sugar has been made by one firm to the Miscellaneous Chemicals Control. The available supplies of lactic acid are required for other and essential purposes, and the application was refused, after consultation with the Ministry of Health, as not being for a purpose essential in the national interest.
