HC Deb 16 December 1942 vol 385 c1957W
Dr. Guest

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the appointment of Governor Lehman to administer relief in North Africa is limited to that area; and how this relief work is co-ordinated with that planned by the Inter-Allied Requirements Bureau appointed by the meeting of representatives of the United Nations at Saint James' Palace in 1941?

Mr. Johnstone

According to the official United States' statement, Governor Lehman will undertake the work of organising American participationin furnishing relief and other assistance to victims of war in areas re-occupied by the Forces of the United Nations. The U.S. Government are represented on the Inter-Allied Committee, and this ensures co-ordination with the work of the Allied Post-War Requirements Bureau.
