HC Deb 15 December 1942 vol 385 c1797W
Captain Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what economic arrangements have been made with the French authorities in North Africa regarding the supply by them of foodstuffs and raw materials to us in return for articles required by them?

Mr. Law

The problem, of supplying French North Africa with its essential import requirements and of obtaining from French North Africa all commodities necessary for the prosecution of the war is being urgently examined by the Combined Boards in Washington. American and British economic experts have been attached to General Eisenhower's staff for the purpose of carrying out, under his directions, the long-term measures which may be decided upon.
