HC Deb 09 December 1942 vol 385 c1585W
Miss Rathbone

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that the heads of some schools engaged in administering the Milk in Schools Scheme are without information as to what is to be done with milk delivered at a school which proves to be surplus owing to the fact that the order has to be given to the dairyman several days in advance and that the numbers needing the milk vary considerably, especially where the scheme is continued during school holidays; whether full instructions have been issued on this point to school authorities; and will he take further steps to make them known?

Mr. Butler

Instructions as to the disposal of any surplus milk supplied under the Milk in Schools Scheme were included in Circulars 1548 and 1569 dated 17th April, 1941, and 3rd November, 1941, respectively. Revised instructions are being issued to-day in Administrative Memorandum No. 435, a copy of which I am sending to the hon. Member. Copies of this Memorandum are being supplied to local education authorities for distribution to schools.
