HC Deb 06 August 1942 vol 382 c1229W
Mr. Reakes

asked the President of the Board of Trade when adequate supplies of black-out curtaining at the controlled price of 2s. per yard are likely to be available in all districts; and what steps are to be taken to prevent profiteering in materials required for the black-out of private property and business premises?

Mr. Dalton

I have arranged for the production of a utility black-out cloth, the prices of which will be controlled at all stages; but the prices are not yet fixed. Meanwhile, supplies of certain black-out materials are free of quota and coupon restrictions; and their prices are controlled under the General Apparel and Cloth (Maximum Prices and Charges) Order, 1942 (S.R. & O. 1942, No. 1407).
