HC Deb 06 August 1942 vol 382 c1216W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning whether he is aware that there are 400 tons of old tramway rails in the county borough of West Ham; and whether he intends having them taken away?

Mr. Hicks

Owing to the disproportionately large quantity of labour required to recover tram rails it is necessary at present to put them low down in the list of salvage priorities, and I cannot say when it will be possible to start this recovery work in West Ham.
