HC Deb 06 August 1942 vol 382 c1227W
Mr. Groves

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will arrange for an inquiry into the recent outbreak of smallpox at Glasgow in view of the fact that the first case which turned out to be confluent smallpox and proved fatal had been diagnosed as measles by the doctor of the ship in which the case originated?

Mr. Johnston

From the beginning of the smallpox outbreak my medical officers in the Department of Health for Scotland have been in constant touch with its development and the measures taken to cope with it. I am not aware of any point on which special inquiry is necessary.
