HC Deb 06 August 1942 vol 382 cc1208-9W
Mr. Ridley

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many children have been released from school attendances for work in agriculture, from elementary, secondary and other schools, respectively; and what provision is made for ensuring that the children are only engaged on tasks for which they were specifically released?

Mr. Hudson

No figures are available to show how many children have been released from school attendance for work in agriculture. As regards the second part of the Question, it is one of the conditions of exemption from school attendance that suitable arrangements must have been made so far as practicable for supervision at work by a responsible person.
