HC Deb 05 August 1942 vol 382 cc1041-2W
Mr. McKinlay

asked the Attorney-General the number of prosecutions and convictions of persons violating war-time finance regulations since 1940 until the last available date and the number of convictions on charges of profiteering during the same period?

The Attorney-General

From the year 1940 to date 133 persons were prosecuted and 120 convicted under the Defence (Finance) Regulations, 1939. I am unable to give statistics in reply to the second part of the Question as a number of offences dealt with by different Departments might involve profiteering. If the hon. Member has any particular class of offence in mind the Department would no doubt give him any available information.
