§ Mr. McKinlayasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why a civil servant without Scottish legal qualifications has been recommended for appointment to the office of King's and Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer; and whether any attempt was made to secure this ancient office for a Scotsman with Scottish legal qualifications?
§ Sir K. WoodAfter a careful review of all possibilities it was decided, with the concurrence of the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Lord Advocate, that in existing circumstances this post should be filled on a temporary footing by the appointment of Mr. P. J. Rose, formerly Assistant Under-Secretary of State at the Scottish Office, for a term of three years.
