§ Mr. LawI have been asked to take this Question. I have no confirmation of the statement that Vichy guns have fired on our aircraft crossing France. The Vichy Government broke off diplomatic relations with His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom in July, 1940, and they have not been resumed. Since that date British interests in unoccupied France have been protected by the United States Government.
