§ Flight-Lieutenant Ethertonasked the Lord Privy Seal how much money has 319W been expended on advertising for recruits for the Women's Royal Naval Service, Auxiliary Territorial Service and Women's Auxiliary Air Force; and when, if they are needed, it is proposed to take steps to call women up for such duties?
§ Mr. BevinI have been asked to reply. As regards the first part of the Question I am informed that the amount expended is approximately £108,000. As regards the second part, women who have been required to register under the Registration for Employment Order, 1941, and who are considered suitable for transference to work of greater national importance than that on which they are engaged are already being recruited in considerable numbers to the women's auxiliary services. They may either choose one of the women's services or be required to undertake vital work in industry. In this way the available woman-power is being distributed between the services and industry.
