HC Deb 11 September 1941 vol 374 c338W
Mr. Garro Jones

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware that the controlled price of poultry allows nothing for the work, cost and loss of weight involved in drawing the fowl; that, in those parts of the country, namely, West Wales, where it is the custom to sell poultry drawn, to meet the convenience of consumers, the producer suffers a loss as compared with the producer who, at the same price per pound, sells rough plucked only; and whether he can do anything to overcome this disadvantage by amending the prices Order or otherwise.

Major Lloyd George

A producer who sells poultry drawn is entitled to calculate the price on the weight of the bird rough-plucked, untrussed and uncleaned. The price on this basis is not therefore affected by the loss of weight involved in drawing the bird.
