HC Deb 11 September 1941 vol 374 c312W
Mr. E. Smith

asked the Minister without Portfolio whether a survey is to be made of the potentialities of North Staffordshire for post-war industrial development, in particular the mining and subsidiary allied industries, a large expansion of the pottery industry, the clearing of all derelict and unsightly areas, and the co-ordination of essential services by the local authorities?

Mr. Greenwood

As I said in reply to a Question on the 7th August, the Government will endeavour to secure that in the machinery which is now being prepared for the planning of land utilisation in the post-war period proper provision is made for taking into consideration the industrial potentialities of all parts of the country and for obtaining the advice and assistance of persons having expert local knowledge.
