In 1930, 37 per cent, of the mines used mechanical cutters, 44 per cent. In 1938 and 47 per cent, in 1940. In 1930, 31 per cent, of coal produced was obtained by mechanical cutters, 59 per cent, in 1938, and 64 per cent, in 1940.
