HC Deb 21 October 1941 vol 374 cc1642-3W
Mr. Maxton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the Scottish Advisory Council has selected the personnel to study the problem of post-war Scotland; whether he can announce the names of those appointed; and whether they will work as individuals on a full-time basis or as voluntary committees?

Mr. Johnston

I would refer the hon. Member to my previous statements regarding the functions of the council. It will be seen that it is not the intention to set up one single committee to study the various problems likely to arise in post-war Scotland, but to appoint separate committees to inquire into particular subjects. The council is at present engaged in the selection of personnel to conduct inquiries of immediate importance.
