§ Captain Pluggeasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether there is any shortage of saccharine; and what retail prices are regarded by his Department as equitable?
Major Lloyd GeorgeI understand that the amount of saccharine released to tablet manufacturers is about 20 times the pre-war figure, but there is evidence of an unsatisfied demand in certain localities. The question of regulating retail prices has already been referred to the Central Prices Regulation Committee set up by the Board of Trade to adminster the Prices of Goods Act, 1939.
