HC Deb 29 May 1941 vol 371 c2024W
Mr. Martin

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the widespread complaints which have been made over the delay in paying out insurance moneys to sick persons under the National Health Insurance scheme; and whether he can do anything to expedite these payments in the future?

Mr. E. Brown

My hon. Friend will appreciate that in present circumstances it is hardly practicable for every benefit claim to be dealt with as promptly as it would be under more normal conditions, but I am satisfied that approved societies realise the importance of doing everything possible to avoid unnecessary delay. If my hon. Friend has any particular cases in mind in which he considers there has been undue delay, perhaps he would be good enough to let me have details.
