Mr. JohnstonNo precise undertaking can be given in existing circumstances, but the Government's policy is and will be directed to the maintenance of an adequate milk supply and dairy herds will continue to receive a preference in regard to such imported feeding stuffs as become available. Farmers, however, have been repeatedly warned that they should endeavour to make themselves independent of purchased supplies in their own interest.
