Member's reference is to Major-General Apple-yard, who has been appointed to direct the Emergency Repair Organisation of the Ministry, the function of which is to organise and co-ordinate all available resources of labour, materials and transport for the repair of air-raid damage; Major-General Appleyard is an engineer of considerable experience, both in the Royal Engineers and in civil life, and is a member of the Institution of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.
