§ Sir R. Gowerasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether experiments are still being undertaken by his Department with a view to alleviating the suffering to pigs in connection with the marking of an ear; and what is now the position?
Major Lloyd GeorgeI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to the hon. Member for South Kensington (Sir W. Davison), on 14th March, 1940, to which I have nothing to add. I propose to send my hon. Friend a copy of a memorandum which has been prepared on the subject, and which, I hope, will convince him that the ear-marking of pigs is not a cruel practice.
