§ Mr. Manderasked the Secretary for Mines whether he will consider the advisability of making regulations to prohibit the use of coal for the heating of hothouses for the production of flowers?
§ Mr. GrenfellTo the extent that the hon. Member refers to privately owned glasshouses, they would be covered by any restriction it was decided to impose on the domestic consumption of fuel. As regards commercial glasshouses, my right hon. Friend, the Minister of Agriculture, has already taken the necessary steps to ensure that they are used in the best interests of the country, and it would be impracticable for me to exercise independent control of their use by discriminating between them in the supply of fuel.
