HC Deb 17 June 1941 vol 372 c490W
Mr. Woodburn

asked the Prime Minister whether he will represent to Ministers and to the British Broadcasting Corporation the desirability of instructing themselves clearly as to the precise meanings of the terms England, Scotland and Britain, and that by the misplaced use of the term England in place of the all-embracing term Britain, they automatically exclude, and cause hurt to, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the other lands of our common people who are together in the one purpose and spirit?

Mr. Attlee

My right hon. Friend sees no necessity for any further special directions upon this subject.
