§ Mr. E. BrownThe representations of certain local authorities to which my hon. Friend refers have been considered, but for the reasons given in the reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Tamworth (Sir J. Mellor) on 13th May, the Government consider that it is necessary to deal comprehensively with all losses of rate income due to enemy action. The scheme of assistance now being administered requires no legislation.
