§ Mr. W. S. MorrisonThe air mail letter-cards to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers are issued to our Forces in the Middle East and East Africa and to personnel of H.M. Ships in the Eastern Mediterranean on a rationed basis of one per week, and the mail loads are controlled by this means. A similar rationing system is impracticable where the general public is concerned, and I regret that, owing to the very limited aircraft accommodation available for mails, I am unable to introduce this facility in the outward direction. My hon. and gallant Friend is no doubt aware of the special air mail postcard service at 3d. which enables family news to be sent speedily to H.M. Forces in the. Middle East; and I may add that I hope to introduce an Airgraph service to them during August.
