Mr. Rostron Duckworthasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is the intention of the Government to deal by special legislation with the position of the mortgagor and the mortgagee in rela- 45W tion to war damage; and, if so, when he proposes to introduce such a measure?
§ The Attorney-General:I have been asked to reply The Government are proposing to introduce further legislation to that contained in the Landlord and Tenant (War Damage) Act, 1939, dealing with the rights of those who have interests in property damaged by war damage. I cannot forecast the proposals which will be embodied in that legislation. The matter referred to in the Question is one of those being considered. I cannot say when it will be possible to introduce such legislation.
