§ Mr. R. Robinsonasked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the increase of wages owing to the cost of living of various sections of civil defence including the Civil Nursing Reserve, he is proposing to raise the billeting allowances to those boarding such workers, since the householder has to provide food which now costs more than at the time the arrangements were made?
§ Mr. E. BrownThe allowances payable to householders for the billeting of the classes of person to which my hon. Friend refers are fixed in relation to other billeting allowances. I would refer him to the answer given by my right hon. 1535W Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer to a Question by the hon. Member for Evesham (Mr. De la Bère) on 10th December last in which he indicated that he was not prepared to consider a revision of the existing billeting rates.
