HC Deb 09 December 1941 vol 376 c1400W
Mr. Groves

asked the Minister of Health how many members of the Insurance Acts Committee of the British Medical Association have, during the last four years, been appointed to any remunerative work directly or indirectly at the disposal of his Department; and how much has been paid to such appointees by way of remuneration and expenses?

Mr. E. Brown

The only appointments of the kind described in the Question which are or have been held by any of the 33 members of the committee in England and Wales are as follow: Three hold or have held whole-time or part-time salaried posts in the Emergency Medical Service at £800 or £500 a year respectively, with travelling allowances at the prescribed rate. A fourth is enrolled in this service on a sessional basis and has received £7 17s. 6d. in all. Nine others are similarly enrolled, but have not been called on for duty or received any fees. Any inquiry about the members of the committee who reside in Scotland or Northern Ireland should be addressed to the Ministers concerned.
