HL Deb 23 April 1941 vol 119 cc77-8WA
THE DUKE OF MONTROSE

asked whether His Majesty's Government are aware that farmers are becoming anxious because no statement has yet been made regarding the prices for the 1941 clip of wool; and whether in view of the advance of the season, they can say when the Advisory Committee of the National Wool Control is likely to be consulted, and when an announcement will be made regarding the prices fixed.

LORD PORTAL

The desirability of an early decision on these prices is fully appreciated, and an announcement will be made as soon as possible. The Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Agriculture for Scotland are discussing the question of price directly with the farmers' representatives, and these discussions may make reference to the British Wool Central Advisory Committees unnecessary.

House adjourned.
