HC Deb 02 April 1941 vol 370 c1016W
Mr. Groves

asked the Minister of Health how many doctors of enemy alien nationality it is intended to permit to practice in Great Britain under the Medical Practitioners (Temporary Regulation) Order, 1941; and how many have to date been permitted to practice under the provisions of that Order?

Mr. E. Brown

The Order referred to, and the Defence Regulation under which it is made, provide for the registration of doctors of certain alien nationalities not possessing British medical qualifications, if they are employed or have been selected for employment in an approved hospital or other institution or service not involving domiciliary practice. It is not intended to fix a maximum number of doctors who should have the benefit of the Order. Up to date 28 doctors of enemy nationality have been selected for employment in accordance with the Order.
