§ Mr. Ethertonasked the Prime Minister whether civilian recipients of the George Cross and the George Medal will be entitled to wear a rosette or narrow ribbon in the buttonhole of their coats?
§ The Prime MinisterIn Civil Defence, Police, Fire, Nursing Service and other authorised uniforms, a short length of ribbon will be worn on the left side, in 611W the usual manner. As is customary, such ribbons may, on all occasions, be worn in the same way on civilian clothes. I am not sure that it will be generally desired to adopt here the Continental practice of wearing rosettes and narrow ribbons in the buttonhole.
