§ Mr. BevinUnder an arrangement made in June last the men to whom my hon. Friend refers will not, in so far as their services are considered essential for the maintenance of local civil defence schemes, be called up under the National Service (Armed Forces) Act during the present calendar year. The matter will be reviewed towards the end of the year in the light of the situation at that time.
