Taylorasked the Minister of Health whether the payments to evacuees who have been billeted in homes in which public assistance is being received is taken into consideration in calculating the income of the household; and, if so, is he prepared to issue regulations to public authorities empowering them to disregard such payments?
Mr. M. MacDonaldPayments made to evacuees for their own needs do not form part of the income of the householders with whom they are billeted, and should not therefore be taken into account in calculating the amount of public assistance to be paid to the latter. If the hon. Member is referring to the billeting allowances paid to the householders in respect of the evacuees, I would refer him to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Caerphilly (Mr. Ness Edwards) on the 22nd October.
