Mr. Gurney Braithwaiteasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware of the hardships caused to junior officers and ratings of the Royal Navy as the result of lodging allowance, which does not cover the cost of accommodation, being subject to Income Tax; and whether he will consult with the Treasury with a view to remedying this hardship?
