§ Mr. ButlerYes, Sir. His Majesty's Government have had under consideration the communication received by them on 29th April from the Soviet Government. His Majesty's Government have now asked the Soviet Goverment to furnish them with certain further information in order that they may be in a position to judge whether the obligations undertaken by the Soviet Government would render it possible for them at present to conclude a Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom on the lines which His Majesty's Government had in mind and which were explained to the House in my answer to the hon. Member for Consett (Mr. David Adams) on 24th April.
