§ Captain WaterhouseThe stamps of the centenary issue are not double the normal size, but only half as big again. The extra paper required amounts to about 18 tons; the extra quantities of other materials needed are small. As regards cost, it is contrary to Government policy to disclose contract prices, but the whole of the extra expenditure involved by the issue, including labour and design, will amount to about £5,500, and this is expected to be more than covered by extra receipts likely to accrue from sales to collectors.
