§ Sir R. Dorman-SmithThe quantity of milk sold under the Milk Marketing Scheme for liquid consumption during the contract year 1938–39 was approximately 764,000,000 gallons. The average regional wholesale price for ordinary milk was 1s. 4¾d. per gallon and for tuberculin tested milk, 1s. 6¼d. per gallon. I have no information as to the actual prices at which milk was sold by retail, but I am sending the hon. Member a statement showing the minimum appropriate retail prices prescribed by the Milk Marketing Board.
