§ Sir R. Dorman-SmithThe agricultural returns for June, 1939, showed a total of 342,751 acres as having been planted to sugar-beet. I am informed that the British Sugar Corporation estimate that the area of land which produced the 1939–40sugar-beet harvest was approximately 340,000 acres.
