§ Mr. Ammonasked the Minister of Health whether, in order to prevent hardship to the owner-occupiers of small dwelling houses, it is intended to introduce legislation to protect mortgagors, who themselves occupy dwelling houses within the limits of rateable value referred to in the Rent and Mortgage Interest Restrictions Acts, from increases in rates of mortgage interest, in the same way as mortgagors who let their houses are protected by those Acts?
§ Mr. ElliotNo, Sir. I am not satisfied that such legislation is necessary. The circumstances of the mortgagors to whom the hon. Member refers, are not strictly comparable with those of a mortgagor whose house is let subject to the restrictions of the Rent and Mortgage Interest Restrictions Acts.
