asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what proportions of the appointments made in the various Government Departments are given to persons whose names appear on the Central Register; and whether due regard is paid in making appointments to the length of time a person has been registered?

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given yesterday by my hon. Friend, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour to the hon. Member for Romford (Mr. Parker), and in answer to the second part of the Question, would add that candidates are selected on the basis of their qualifications.
