§ Mr. Bensonasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can state the position with regard to the Smallbrook Spinning Company of Shaw; and whether it is proposed to break up this mill, in view of the need for increased cotton exports?
Major Lloyd GeorgeI understand that this mill was sold by the Spindles Board a week ago, but that, before selling it, the board took steps to satisfy themselves that there was no reasonable prospect of its being used again as a cotton spinning mill and had offered to firms in the industry all the machinery likely to be of further use.
