I have now been advised by the Food Rations (Special Diets) Advisory Committee of the Medical Research Council that diabetic patients both children and adults should be allowed one extra ration of butchers' meat in exchange for their sugar ration, this exchange to be made on presentation of a doctor's certificate stating that the patient suffers from diabetes mellitus. The necessary arrangements will be made as soon as possible.
